Fistulacon Plus 2026 is a specialised academic conference focused on anal fistula and other common anorectal problems. The event is designed to offer practical, real-world guidance through expert lectures, live surgeries, and interactive sessions. It brings together senior surgeons, practicing doctors, and teaching delegates on one platform to share knowledge and clinical experience.
At this prestigious forum, Dr. Laxman Salve was invited as a Luminary Speaker, and delivered an insightful and experience-driven session on Laser Lateral Internal Sphincterotomy (LIS). His talk was well appreciated by attending doctors, teaching delegates, and young surgeons, as it focused on everyday clinical decision-making rather than purely theoretical concepts.

During his session, Dr. Salve discussed:
- When Lateral Internal Sphincterotomy is truly indicated and how to choose the right patient
- Closed and Open Laser LIS techniques, explained through practical case examples
- The advantages of laser over conventional tools such as scalpel, scissors, and cautery, particularly in terms of precision, minimal bleeding, and quicker recovery
- Types of lasers commonly used in LIS and their practical use in routine practice
- Possible complications of Laser LIS, explained in a clear and honest manner
- Practical tips to avoid complications, based on his own surgical experience
Attendees appreciated the clarity and simplicity of the session. Teaching delegates found it especially useful as it connected textbook knowledge with real-life surgical practice. Overall, the session helped many doctors gain confidence in safely and effectively adopting laser techniques in their day-to-day clinical work.
On popular demand, Dr Laxman also conducted a detailed hands-on workshop on Stapler techniques to the audience which had registered for the MIPH workshop.
Dr Laxman also chaired a Symposium on Pilonidal Sinus. He moderated the discussions and added experts comments & suggestions to the already fantastic presentations done by various speakers.
